At ARTventurers we LOVE playdough – it’s super easy to make and it’s GREAT fun to play with….just think about how all of that squishing and squidging and modelling, cutting and creating can help to develop fine and gross motor skills and aid coordination as well as firing up little imaginations!
Try this fab marshmallow playdough recipe – playdough with a twist! It’s a bit like fondant icing, smells GORGEOUS and is super stretchy too! Plus all of the ingredients are edible – though please make sure you supervise small children playing with it at all times!
Full recipe and “how to below”
You’ll need :
(makes one large ball)
Half a tablespoon of coconut oil
15 large marshmallows
Half a cup of cornflour
Half a cup of flour (plus a bit more if needed!)
Heat the coconut oil gently then add the marshmallows to the pan
Stir constantly until the marshmallows have melted right down – this does take a little time but keep stirring otherwise they’ll start to stick to the pan!
Add a few drops of food colouring and stir in
Add and fold in half a cup of cornflour
Then add and fold in half a cup of flour
You might find if it’s still a bit sticky and running that you need to add a bit more flour at this stage – fold in some more flour until it starts to form a dough and come away from the sides of the pan
Place onto a lightly floured board and let it cool down
Knead well until it’s the a fondant-icing type dough and ready to play!
