Snowy Pine Cone Baby Owls!

Snowy Pine Cone Baby Owls!

These baby owls are an old ARTventurers favourite – FAB for working on fine motor and coordination skills, plus they make gorgeous Christmas decorations too!

Full “How to” below :

You’ll need :

Large pine cone

Some card or paper cut into circles (eyes) and triangles (beak)

Wiggly eyes

Cotton wool

Sparkly glitter or snow glitter is lovely but not essential!

Use fingers to push cotton wool into the gaps in the pine cone – this is the bit which is great for working on those fine motor skills and coordination skills with little people!

Glue on features – eyes and beak

You can add a little Christmas sparkle with glitter or sparkly fake snow – make a whole baby owl family to decorate your mantelpiece or hang from the tree with a piece of ribbon or wire!

Christmas Candy Cane Place Name Settings

Christmas Candy Cane Place Name Settings

My own two ARTventurers LOVE designing the place name settings for our Christmas dinner table every year so we’ll definitely be making these on Christmas Eve!

Your little ARTventurers can put their own spin on them too – with Christmas stickers, glitter, metallic pens…a lovely activity to keep them busy whilst you’re wrapping or cooking.

A full “how to” is below, but it really couldn’t be easier!

You’ll need :

Candy Canes (cellophane wrapped) – 3 per place setting

Rectangle of stiff card

Glitter (or we used some sparkly face snow)

Candy Cane Place Setting

Use sellotape to bind the 3 candy canes together – you’ll need them to be at a slight angle to each other to create a solid base for standing. It’s easier to tape two together first then add the third rather than struggle to hold all 3 in place!

Use pens and glitter to decorate your rectangle of card and add the name

Slot the card into the candy cane stand and tie ribbons round to decorate

Happy Christmas!
