Here is a special treat for all of our lovely ARTventurers. If, like me, you are missing our classes during this difficult time, here is our warm up song to keep you going. I know how many of you LOVE warm up time and will miss seeing ARTy Bear. Why not use this video to get yourselves going every morning and give yourselves a little ARTy Bear fix?
We LOVE process art activities here at ARTventurers. This is where we concentrate on the process of actually creating art, rather than the final outcome. Process art is so fun, completely individual and not one masterpiece looks the same.
During our time spent socially distancing, I am going to put myself to good use and show you some process art activities you can do at home.
Activity number 1 is skateboard painting. I have used lining paper but wallpaper or wrapping paper works just as well. A scooter or baby walker could be used if you don’t have a skateboard. Whatever you have to hand, just use your imagination!
It has been a crazy old year this year and now that we have just celebrated our first business birthday, I thought it only fitting to share what its actually like to be a glitter girl.
Lots of people have asked me about it. Why do I do it? How do I manage to run a business with two small children? I often hear “it must take you so long to set up” and “does it take you long to get ready for class?” So here you have it, a week into my life and what it really looks like.
December 2019 we launched some brand new intergenerational ARTventurers
sessions in South Tyneside, with the aim of bringing old and young together
through art and creative play.
We have taken our award-winning ARTventurers classes into the care home so that the care home residents can join in alongside the under fives and their parents, taking part in the creative activities and joining in with the singing and dancing too.
The intergenerational sessions are so exciting and have so much potential. There is a lot of research to suggest that intergenerational work helps to support positive mental health for older people who can otherwise feel isolated and lonely. It also helps children’s social, emotional and physical development and wellbeing.
It is so exciting that we have brought these really special classes to the area. The feedback from residents within the home has been fantastic. One lady said she was thrilled to see how well the children engaged in the activities on offer to them and how none of them were afraid of getting a little messy. She was amazed at how capable and talented they are despite their young age. She told me she had never had children of her own but loves spending time with children as it makes her feel happy and more youthful herself.
This is what it is all about; bringing joy to people of all ages through art and creative play.
Classes are now running fortnightly within the home and spaces can be booked via the book a class section of our website.
If you would like more information or to chat about all of the classes we run at ARTventurers South Shields, Jarrow and Hebburn, then drop me a message at firstname.lastname@example.org or search for us on Facebook and Instagram.
January 2020 will see the launch of intergenerational classes in South Tyneside.
We are collaborating with Hillcare at Willow Dene Care Home in Hebburn and bringing our ARTventurers fun to their residents.
Children and residents will work together and benefit from the advantages that art and creative play brings. There is a lot of research to suggest that intergenerational work helps to support positive mental health for older people who can otherwise feel a little lonely. It also helps children’s social, emotional and physical development and wellbeing.
To launch the classes we are hosting an intergenerational Christmas party on 19th December. Children will take home their little creations and keepsakes and everyone will leave with the beautiful memories the session helps to create.

I am sitting planning our Autum Term here at ARTventurers South Shields, Jarrow and Hebburn and I have naturally started to reflect on the incredible things we have achieved so far this year.
Lots of you graduated from class this year, all with First Degree Honours, of course! We have covered so many themes and I have seen so many fantastic creations and mini masterpieces. We have been to Wimbledon, laughed with Mr Tickle and eaten with Mr Greedy. We have thanked our parents and carers with our Mothers and Fathers Day gifts and so, so much more. We introduced the concept of process art into our classes which has been a roaring success. So many of you have used your little imaginations to create something unique and completely wonderful.
Not to mention some of the parties I have been privileged to be part of and holiday classes we have had too. I must admit, our Moana inspired holiday class was my personal favourite.
On a personal note, I have enjoyed getting to know so many lovely little ARTventurers and their grown ups. I am blown away by your continued support and enthusiasm week on week- THANK YOU!!
I cannot wait to see everyone again for our sparkly new Autumn Term and to meet some new faces too!
Jen & ARTy x
Thank you everyone for what has been an exciting, messy, glittery, painty, super fun first term!
I am so lucky to do this, it doesn’t actually feel like work when you love what you do.
I am so proud of all of your crafty creations, mini masterpieces and fun we have had along the way and I am so excited for the Easter holiday classes and the new term ahead!
Some of you have been coming to classes for years and change can be difficult for lots of people. But you have welcomed me with open arms, thank you. For those of you who were new to ARTventurers this term, I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have.
I would be interested to know how you feel the term has gone and if there is anything you particularly loved or would like to change in the future. Please could you leave me some feedback in a review or a message and I will take all of your comments on board!
We can’t wait to see you next term!
Lots of love,
Jen & ARTy xx
This week was my first week (along with ARTy bear), ARTventuring as owners of ARTventurers South Shields, Jarrow and Hebburn. It’s been an incredible week so I thought I would point out my top 10 bits:
1. I have started to get to know so many little ARTventurers and their grown ups
2. Some of your creations were amazing this week- I love the St Patricks theme 🍀
3. My car is more glittery than it’s ever been 😆
4. I have experienced ARTventurers from the “other side” which is completely different to going along with my own children
5. For some of you, this week was your first ARTventurers class so our journeys have started together
6. I have had some fantastic feedback from customers which is what it is all about- happy, smiling (messy!) faces
7. Some of you have me about hosting a birthday party for their little ones, which is so exciting as I love a good party. But I am humbled that you are putting your faith in me to make your little one’s birthday a glittery, sparkly, one to remember 🎉
8. We got to sing happy birthday to a couple of our little ARTventurers and a grown up this week and they all enjoyed their special days!
9. ARTy has been spoilt rotten with hugs and kisses!
10. I can’t wait to do it all again!!!
So most of you will know by now that I have recently taken over the running of ARTventurers South Shields, Jarrow and Hebburn from the fabulous Susan. Susan has worked tirelessly over the past three years to make ARTventurers in our area what it is today! Thank you Susan for all of your hard work and dedication.
As an ARTventurers Mammy, I know how important those early years are for learning, developing, socialising and making amazing memories.
In the Elliott household, we LOVE art!! Alice, now Reuben, love to learn through creative play, exploring textures and making mini masterpieces. And I love nothing more than seeing the pride on Alice’s face when she has finished a project! ARTventurers has helped make Alice into a confident, sociable little girl and she is keen to show her baby brother how to follow suit.
ITS THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!!
One more week to go until we begin to write the next chapter of our ARTventurers journey when we start our very first class of our very first term!
We are all super excited and raring to go and can’t wait to meet you all in class to make lots of new friends and lots of glittery memories!
Jen, Miles, Alice, Reuben and ARTy x
It’s the last week of term already and what a busy morning we had yesterday!
The Little ones at Marsden thoroughly enjoyed our “Teddy Bears Picnic” and their Graduation
It’s proving an emotional time for me, seeing how much the babies have come on since the beginning of the year , crawling to walking and becoming very confident little ones and the older children setting off on their new adventures at nursery
Thank you to everyone who has come to classes I appreciate your support x
