We’re currently living through strange and worrying times. However, there’s something approaching in our calendars which is certainly a day to commemorate and celebrate – in May we will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day. Obviously the large scale celebrations and events won’t now be taking place and we understand that the hope is that these can now take place later in the year.
At ARTventurers we had our own V.E Day 75 sessions and events planned for May but we’re transferring the #artventurersfun online instead and invite you all to join in with us for a free, fab, creative family festival-style event at home.
In true ARTventurers-style we’re going to be encouraging children of all ages to get creative – decorating our homes and gardens to commemorate this special day. If the weather’s great and you have a garden, pitch a tent for the full on festival vibe or build a den at home! We’re also going to be running a free programme of online sessions during the course of the day of Friday 8th May with lots of our favourite children’s activities providers taking part so that you can enjoy a fun-packed festival timetable.
We’ve got a Scottish Festival Pack available via this pagethat you can register to receive in the run-up to the event with LOADS of free printables and child-friendly ideas to really create a memorable day – and watch this space for lots more!
As we keep saying during this time, let’s keep our kids calm and creative. But let’s also whilst we are apart, come together to commemorate all those men and women who made such sacrifices for us all. Let’s make V.E Day 75 an event our children will always remember!
How do I join in?
The easiest way to join in with all of the build up, fun activities and with the online sessions during the day is to join The Big Neighbourhood V.E Day Family Festival! Facebook community group which is for families taking part across the UK.
How do I register for a Scottish Festival Pack and the free resources?
Easy – just fill in a few details on the form below, click submit and in the build up to the event we’ll email you your free pack and lots more information and ideas too to help you create a fun packed home event.
Can anyone join in?
Yes, the more the merrier! Invite all of your friends and family to join in and share all of your photos of the build up and the day itself with us all on social media using the hashtag #thebigneighbourhoodVEdayathome. Just remember – this is an online and at home event! We must all stay at home and stay safe during this time and follow the government advice – this is an event designed so that we can all celebrate with our children together whilst staying apart.
We can’t wait to celebrate and commemorate with you all!
Lots of love
